This was stated by director Nikolai Dostal film. Filming took place between October 2009 and planned to show it in April 2011. According to Dostal, the film should have been 16 series, but in the process of filming it increased to 20 episodes. The director said that filming is strictly according to the scenario and the "extra" scenes occur in episodes associated with the administration of worship - the liturgy and prayer. Budget "Schism" was one of the biggest series for that go in 2011: $ 10 million. In the center of a 20-part film's reforms have been undertaken by Patriarch Nikon, and the movement split, which was headed by the archpriest Avakuum. Dostal said that for the filming of specially selected actors unfamiliar to the general public.
